Your Prayers Break the Sky in Two

Another artwork from a shipping week I organized this past June. The theme was Alternate Universe and I chose to bring in my God!AU Cyrus into the mix.

I have a reoccurring theme in my life of thinking of how anyone would suffer through the everlasting march of time. Outside of this AU I have another immortal Original Character who lives from ancient times until modern day. To watch loved ones die by the dozens until a person hits a point of being no longer willing to forge human connections is something I’m interested in telling a story about. In the case of this image, it is hard to have hope for a deity who has witnessed the heat death of his world.

The forget-me-nots work well for both of their stories. Cyrus (the blue haired individual) gives up on everyone in the game he is from, deeming it impossible to create a perfect world for anyone outside of himself. Giovanni (the lower brown haired individual) deals with greed as his main story point and eventually abandons his empire after suffering a defeat by the player’s hand. For this AU they both struggle with the impact they will leave on each other. Cyrus by the consequences of the disruption of Giovanni’s life just by being a deity in his presence, and Giovanni with having to compete with a lifetime of creating a civilization by hand and being the first contact Cyrus has with a remade world.

I hope to one day create a long form story with this concept because it won’t leave my brain even though the Pokémon company probably doesn’t want my gay little hands on their franchise...
